Julie Wilson-Hirst and Paul Wilson are owner/operators of the Bodhi Tree where they are fostering the development of a contemplative community by offering psychotherapy/counselling services, therapeutic group work, personal development workshops and meditation. Julie Wilson-Hirst is a Psychotherapist and Counsellor who has worked in the human and community services sector for nearly 20 years. Her experience spans the private, public and not-for-profit sectors where she has held positions in management, training and human resource development, community development and community education. Julie is currently in private practice and along with her husband is the owner of the Bodhi Tree, a Centre providing counselling, psychotherapy, meditation and personal development workshops.
Her
qualifications include degrees in Arts (English Literature and
History), Adult and Vocational Education (majoring in Human Resource
Development), Post Graduate qualifications in the Transpersonal and
Expressive Therapies, Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling and
Advanced Diploma in Buddhist Psychotherapy. She is currently
undertaking her Masters in Mental Health (Psychotherapy) with UQ. Julie has been a Buddhist for 16 years. She is a Clinical Member of the Queensland Association of Family Therapy (QAFT), the Queensland Counsellors Association (QCA) and the Australian Association of Buddhist Psychotherapists and Counsellors. Julie is a registered Supervisor with QCA. Paul Wilson is a Professional Engineer who has been practising Buddhism for some eighteen years. He applies Buddhist practices in his professional life by designing ecologically sustainable and safe control systems. Paul has facilitated meditation classes for some years, assisting workers manage stress, increase wellbeing and improve personal relationships.
About the Bodhi Tree LogoSariputra, one of the ten great disciples of Gautama Buddha, is represented on the Bodhi Tree logo. Sariputra left home at the age of 20 in search of the truth of life. He was known for his mental quickness, intelligence and wisdom. He also dedicated himself to observing and preaching the Dharma and was renowned for his compassion and desire to assist others.
